About
Coalisland Museum & Heritage Centre introduces the remarkable history of this unique region. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the rich natural deposits of coal and clay around Coalisland and East Tyrone triggered an industrial revolution in the middle of Ulster.
Weaving factories and mills also brought prosperity and jobs. These industries shaped the people and the landscape and their legacy is still visible today. Visitors will learn about this exciting part of our past and enjoy the opportunity to explore the old weaving factory museum.
Our trained guides will take you around the fascinating display areas while historical figures from the past, played by the talented actors from Craic Theatre, will tell you wonderful stories of the old weaving factory and the people who worked there.
