Awaken your Giant Spirit

  1. A couple converse in front of a sketch of Heaney
This is a special place. A moving place. An inspirational place. Seamus Heaney HomePlace takes you on an inspiring journey through the life and work of one of Ireland’s greatest writers. While much of Seamus Heaney’s writing is inspired by words and ways of life specific to this area, his human relationships and household objects, which we bring to the fore in our exhibition, are familiar to many. This creates a deeply personal visitor experience.
    1. A church on an island on Lough Beg
Church Island is a small island on Lough Beg - 1.5 miles from Bellaghy. On a visit to the island you will discover the ruins of an old church with no spire.
      1. ‘There are few things as refreshing as finding there is another dimension behind the poetry of one so recognised and analysed, and that is what happens on every step of the journey through Heaney’s childhood terrain’ Travel Extra Review October 2014
