Get your walking boots ready for the first Sperrins Walking Programme taking place September 2022 across the Sperrins Area of Outstanding Natural beauty (AONB).
The programme, developed and delivered by The Sperrins Partnership and outdoor experts Far and Wild, is designed to help walkers of all abilities to enjoy our beautiful landscape as well as promoting health, physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Sperrins Walking participants will not only enjoy discovering a destination filled with unique tourism experiences, but a great choice of walks ranging from leisurely strolls to more demanding longer walks, all in small groups, guided by experienced leaders.
In co-operation with Embrace Tours and local guides, the heartland of Mid Ulster offers some exciting and significant walking routes. Walks include Glenaruddagh Mountain, Davagh Forest, Moydamlaght Forest to Glenshane Pass over Mullaghmore, Moydamlaght Forest looped walk to Eagle’s Rock.

Saturday 24 September
Origin Myths of Slieve Gallion with Embrace Tours (Challenging Walk - 11km)
Led by Hugh McCloy from Embrace Tours this challenging walk will ascend Glenaruddagh Mountain and is 11km. Walkers will experience the warm local hospitality, food and entertainment afterwards in Shepherds Rest, Draperstown. Suitable for experienced hill walkers only.
Magic of the Forest 'Plants with purpose' (Moderate Walk - 8km)
Led by Embrace Tours through the scenic Davagh Forest and is 8km. Walkers will experience the warm local hospitality, food and entertainment afterwards in Shepherds Rest, Draperstown.
There are also self-guided easy / family walks taking place at Davagh Solar and Archaeology walk which are free of charge.
Sunday 25 September
Moydamlaght Forest to Glenshane Pass over Mullaghmore (Challenging Walk - 10km)
This walking route is 10km long through Moydamlaght Forest. You’ll be welcomed back to Moydamlaght Community Centre where a warm cuppa and scones will be waiting.
Moydamlaght Forest looped walk to Eagle’s Rock (Moderate Walk - 6km)
A circular route of 6km with fantastic views along the way. Follows a gravel forest trail through conifer and native woodland, peaking beside the impressive rock face of Craig-na-shoke. You’ll be welcomed back to Moydamlaght Community Centre where a warm cuppa and scones will be waiting.
There are also self-guided easy / family walks taking place at Moydamlaght Forest which are both circular short (1.5km) and medium (2km) trails at no charge.
