Katie's Cottage EHOD 2023

28 Deerpark Road, Bellaghy, County Londonderry, BT45 8LB
Katie's Cottage EHOD 2023

About

The cottage is an excellent example of a vernacular building and is a rare one and a half storey Grade B+ Listed thatched cottage circa 1830.

It was fully restored and renovated to a high standard in 2016/2017. It is a very well-known landmark within the Bellaghy area which is loved and appreciated by the local community and beyond. The ground floor consists of a small entrance hall which leads to the living room off which the rest of the ground floor flows. There is a kitchen/dining area, utility room, single bedroom, double bedroom and a small wet room. The living room and both bedrooms have working open fireplaces and there is a wood burning stove located in the kitchen/dining area.

The stairs in the cottage are located at the rear of the living room fireplace leading to a spacious landing off which are a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and bath, a walk-in hot press and a further double bedroom with ensuite.

The cottage is flooded with natural daylight making it a beautiful and relaxing environment. There are lawns to the front and one side of the cottage. To the rear there is a spacious gravel yard for parking and several outbuildings used mostly when this was a working farm.

This event will provide a full tour of the cottage and some of the history of aspects of the cottage and of those who lived there.
