Parkanaur Manor House is a Grade A listed building set within the historic Parkanaur estate near Dungannon. Designed by architect Thomas Duff and developed between 1839 and 1854 for the Burges family, the house evolved from an earlier Georgian cottage into one of the finest examples of Victorian Tudor Revival architecture in Ulster. The manor retains many outstanding original features including a grand entrance hall, minstrel gallery, ornate fireplaces and historic decorative woodwork.
The estate itself has a rich history dating back to lands formerly owned by the O'Donnelly family before being granted to the Caulfeild family in the early 1600s. Today, Parkanaur is surrounded by mature woodland and the nearby forest park, home to one of Ireland's rare herds of white fallow deer.
As part of European Heritage Open Days, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the historic interiors of the manor house, learn about its architectural and social history, and discover its unique role in education and community life since the 1960s under the Thomas Doran Parkanaur Trust.
