About
The cottage is a wonderful example of a vernacular building and is a rare one and a half storey Grade B+ Listed thatched cottage circa 1830. It was fully restored and renovated to a high standard in 2016/2017.
It is a very well-known landmark within the Bellaghy area which is loved and appreciated by both the local community and far beyond. The ground floor consists of a small entrance hall which leads to the living room off which the rest of the ground floor flows. There is a kitchen/dining area, utility room, single bedroom, double bedroom and a small wet room.
The living room and both bedrooms have working open fireplaces and there is a woodburning stove located in the kitchen/dining area. The stairs in the cottage are located at the rear of the living room fireplace leading to a spacious landing off which are a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and bath and a further double bedroom with ensuite. The cottage is flooded with natural daylight making it a beautiful and relaxing environment.
There are lawns to the front and one side of the cottage. To the rear there is a spacious gravel yard for parking and several outbuildings used mostly when this was previously a working farm. This event will provide a full tour of the cottage and back courtyard including some history of the cottage and those who lived there.
We will be providing Tea, Coffee and tray bakes etc. for charitable donations. Our chosen charity this year is Charis Cancer Care.
