Blake Morrison has come full circle. He began writing poetry outside his journalism career before writing fiction, criticism (he was the first to publish a critical study of Seamus Heaney), libretti and plays and becoming Professor of Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London. Best known for his acclaimed autobiographical works And When Did You Last See Your Father? and Things My Mother Never Told Me, he returns to life writing in his new book On Memoir and new poetry collection, Afterburn.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Blake Morrison grew up in Yorkshire and studied at Nottingham University. He has published poetry, memoirs, novels, essays and plays, including And When Did You Last See Your Father? (made into a film with Jim Broadbent, Juliet Stevenson and Colin Firth) and The Last Weekend (which was dramatised for television). For many years he worked as a literary editor before becoming Professor of Creative Writing at Goldsmiths University. In 1982 he published a short critical study of Seamus Heaney, the first one about him to appear. His poetry collections include The Ballad of the Yorkshire Ripper and Shingle Street. This year he has published a poetry collection, Afterburn, and a book about life writing, On Memoir.
