Pam Ayres

About

"Who doesn't feel warm, sentimental, and downright good when they think of Pam Ayres? She's a timeless talent and a glorious people's poet."

Glastonbury Festival 2022

Pam Ayres has spent a lifetime providing hilarious and profound insights into the delights and tribulations of everyday life. One of Britain's best-loved poets, she rose to national prominence after appearing on the television talent show Opportunity Knocks in the 1970s, she quickly became a household name through her distinctive performances and accessible poetry.

Across a career spanning more than five decades, Ayres has published numerous bestselling poetry collections, performed to sold-out audiences throughout the UK and abroad, and been a familiar voice on radio and television. Her work combines humour with poignant insight, capturing the quirks and challenges of ordinary life with great affection. In recognition of her contribution to literature and entertainment, she was awarded an MBE for services to poetry and broadcasting.

Pam has now gathered her career's work of poetry into her latest book, DOGGEDLY ONWARD – A Life in Poems, which traces the course of her life, and illustrates how her work has provoked laughter, and some tears, in people around the world.

Her recent TV appearances include two series of The Cotswolds for Channel 5, This Morning, Alan Titchmarsh, Countdown and Would I Lie To You? and we are delighted to welcome her to the Helicon stage.

PLEASE NOTE: PAM AYRES WILL NOT BE DOING A BOOK SIGNING AFTER THE EVENT, HOWEVER SIGNED COPIES OF HER BOOK WILL BE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ON THE DAY.
