We are thrilled to welcome Ireland Professor of Poetry Vona Groarke to HomePlace to celebrate her prestigious appointment, a role which will run from September 2025 to November 2028.

Vona Groarke has been described in Poetry Ireland Review as 'one of the best writers in Ireland today'. Groarke's ninth poetry collection and fifteenth book, Infinity Pool (May 2025) is both ingenious and exhilarating.

Recipient of the Piggott Prize and the Irish Literary Hall of Fame Award, a member of Aosdána, the Irish Academy of the Arts, and the Royal Literary Society, her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Poetry (Chicago), New York Review of Books, The TLS and Poetry Review. She is also the winner of the 2024 Michel Déon Award.

Writer, critic, editor and essayist, she has taught at the University of Manchester since 2007 and is currently Writer in Residence at St John's College, Cambridge University.
